    Frequently Asked Questions

The question most couples ask is the fee.

For a simple weekday elopement at my location with up to four guests, the fee is $50. (Virginia Code 20-27) Beyond a simple elopement, consultation, preparation, rehearsal, and transportation fees may apply. To quote you the best possible fee, time and location of your ceremony are needed, as well as your vision for your ceremony. Fees can be discussed when we speak. Please call for a complimentary phone consultation before you decide to retain my services.

We want you to perform our ceremony. What is the next step?

Contact me: 757.869.0838 or cathi@agelessbalance.com with a number and best time to reach you.

I will answer questions you may have about my services. The first considerations are the date and time you have chosen, and where you want to have your ceremony.

When you are ready to book me as your Officiant after we have spoken, please complete the Couple Information form and pay your deposit.

When I have received both the Couple Information and the deposit, your ceremony reservation is complete and I will begin preparing your ceremony.

    What about last minute ceremonies?

Absolutely, yes! I would be happy to accommodate you at the last minute and officiate for you. If you are flexible with the time, I am usually able to offer same day services. If you have your license and want to get married today, please give me a call. There is almost no doubt that you can be married today!

What is needed to become legally married?

You must have your marriage license, obtained from the Clerk of Court in any location in Virginia. Bring your marriage license and proper identification (driver’s license, military ID, etc.) to our meeting or your ceremony. Please contact your Clerk of Court for any legal questions.

    Is premarital counseling required?

No, I do not require premarital counseling. As adults, you and your partner’s choices are strictly your own.

Does it matter what religion or spirituality we practice?

No. You bring your own spiritual experiences and practices to the ceremony. The amount of spirituality in the ceremony is up to you. I am Spiritual in nature and believe everyone has the right to choose his or her own path. As an Inter-Faith / Non-Denominational Minister, I honor and respect all beliefs and traditions, whether religious, spiritual, or secular.

    What are your credentials?

I am an Inter-Faith, Non-Denominational Minister, authorized to officiate wedding ceremonies in Virginia with the title: Reverend. I have officiated well over 800 ceremonies.

    How long is the ceremony?

Depending on what you want to include in your ceremony, your ceremony can be as short as “I do” and “I now pronounce you”, to longer ceremonies which might include special additions such as Unity Ceremonies, Blended Families, Themed Weddings, and the like, lasting longer. The ceremony length is entirely your choice. The length varies based on many options such as: themes, readings, or singing, how many people in the bridal party procession and recession, etc. It should be as long or as short as you want it to be! This is something we can discuss.

    Location of ceremony?

I officiate ceremonies in the venue of your choice: wedding chapels, churches, in parks or lake fronts, beaches, your private residence, in hotel halls and suites, restaurants, bars, my home office, just about anywhere! If you can dream it, we can do it! View the wedding album for a sample of service locations or Like my Facebook page (Ageless Balance) and you will find many more recent photos. Please be certain that you have acquired any necessary permits or permissions for your venue of choice.

    What about rehearsal?

Again, that is your decision. I will gladly coordinate your rehearsal should you decide you want one. Many couples find that a rehearsal gives them peace of mind. However, for shorter services, it is often not necessary. That can be discussed as we go over your ceremony.

    Additional Information:

Officiating your wedding is an honor and a sacred trust. A lot of planning, time, and effort go into your ceremony to give you a beautiful start to your life together. Every ceremony I officiate is special to me as well. As an Inter-Faith / Non-Denominational Minister I have worked with couples from varying cultures, ages, religions, in many settings. I am confident that together we will make your day special.

    What’s Next?

  • After your ceremony–

You may choose to change your name, or not, but you still may want to consider notifying various agencies of your change in marital status…**If you are planning honeymoon travel, you may wish to use your maiden name for booking purposes as your new ID’s may not be available until after your return. Think about asking before booking to be sure.

The Clerk of Court where you obtained your license can help you obtain your certified copies. You will need to make arrangement with the court for your certified copies as most will not automatically send them to you.
